    Places to stay in Porto

Porto has long been an exciting destination for visitors, and the city has an extensive array of hotels, inn, and hostels to allow tourists to bed down for the night in comfort.
Porto hotels are cheaper than what is often found in other areas of Europe, though as this city becomes a popular destination for visitors, prices are sure to rise.
Hotels in Porto are concentrated in the city center, north of the waterfront, and around the main monuments and attractions. There are also lodging options north of the city, in the suburbs, along the coast, and near the airport. So -- if you are looking for where to stay in Porto, it's best to decide what part of town you want to be in first.
Porto accommodations also include low-cost European chains, hostels, family-run pensions, and quirky art hotels.
Porto lodging is often a good deal, and this is especially true during the off season, when places to stay in Porto may offer big discounts on rooms and vacation packages. Porto hotels deals are harder to find during the summer high season.
If you want to know more about lodging in Porto, visit Minube, where you can make reservations, read about specific hotels, and see what fellow travelers have to say about this exciting destination.

    tryp oporto centro hotel
    Hotels in
    Porto
The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk from the centre of Porto, but nearby is a metro stop which drops you at the centre. It is very clean, and the rooms are spacious. The smoking rooms have a large terrace - maybe a bit too big, it would have been better to have more space in the rooms instead. Ask for a room overlooking the city centre; the view on the other side is far from pretty. There's free wifi throughout the hotel, although in some rooms the signal is very weak. The breakfast is good - all the food is great - and for 3 euros, you can eat it in your room. The staff are friendly and helpful if you have any questions, and although most of the area nearby has paid parking, there's a street next to the hotel without any parking meters. Good value.

    Porto
We had excellent service at this hotel, starting with the welcome glass of port. The friendly staff went out of their way to help us in any way possible. The price isn't bad for a 5* hotel. We spent three nights here. On the first day we arrived at noon, and went for a walk around the area. On the second day we took the cart to the port area. We don't really like seeing museums, but we enjoy getting lost in the streets of a new city, and we ate great seafood rice accompanied by green wine at a restaurant - I don't remember its name, but it's almost under the subway bridge. On the third day we went to visit the castles around the port, and when we finished we travelled the 70km to Viana do Castelo, a very pretty village with lovely restaurants.

hotel infante de sagres - small luxury hotels of the world

    Porto
This is a five-star boutique hotel in the center of Oporto, Portugal. The building itself is from the 1950's with a touch of decadence in the entrance, then inside it's all modern decor, but remains uncluttered. Spacious room with high ceilings and comfortable beds, the bathroom was also quite large. The lobby and the first floor are decorated with Portuguese furniture from Boca do Lobo, a Portuguese company. There is also a very modern lounge/bar, and in regard to breakfast there's an assortment of high-quality Portuguese products. The service was good, very personal and pleasant and they even provided a special welcome gift. There are a lot of restaurants and the hotel is well-connected to the airport.

    hf fenix porto hotel

    Porto
We got lost twice before reaching the hotel! HF Fenix Porto is right next to the Cidade do Porto Mall, so you'll probably need a car if you want to visit downtown Porto. The receptionist told us we could take the subway, but we preferred to drive. The rooms were simple but very clean and well-maintained, but the decor was rather poor in my opinion. From the outside, it looks like a 4-star hotel, but when you enter the room you realize that it's actually pretty old-fashioned. The room had a double bed, TV, telephone, and bathroom, but the carpet was quite old and had some marks on it. I don't understand why hotels feel the need to put carpets in the rooms if they just get dirty like this.

The Porto Palácio Hotel is on Avenida da Boa Vista, near the Rotunda da Boa Vista, it's very central and next to the Casa da Música. The attention and care dispensed by the staff impressed me, they are very, very nice and strive to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The hotel has 4 restaurants, including Italian, Japanese and Portuguese cuisine, spa, fitness center and all amenities for a great stay. I loved it and I think I'll repeat when I'm next in Porto.

The hotel is located opposite the Duero River in the area of Porto, Ribeira. It occupies a complex of sixteenth to eighteenth century buildings that have been completely renovated. It's not too big, with 48 spacious, comfortable rooms, with large bathrooms. The breakfast buffet is very complete, and is served in the cafe on the first floor, with stunning river views. It's right in front of the area of wineries, and adjacent to the Luis I Bridge, by which you can walk to the other side of the river. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. It is also quite close to the Palais de la Bourse, and the nearest metro stop is Sao Bento.

    Porto
I just got back from a couple days staying in this hotel, and I came here to recommend it to those who have thought of traveling to this interesting Portuguese city. The hotel is 15 stops by tram from the airport, and you only have to get off at the station of Trindade. It is a 4* hotel but the best is its short existence, it was only opened in 2010 and its decoration is vanguard and maintained, also everything looks very new. The room can be booked for 70€ with a fantastic breakfast made up of homemade pastries and natural juices. It is possible to get to all parts of the city from here by foot. Another thing to take into account is the charming receptionist speaks Spanish. I will return.

    sheraton porto hotel & spa
    Hotels in
    Porto
This is a luxury hotel with 12 floors and spa downstairs, near the metro station Casa do Musica and has good communication with the airport. The rooms are very spacious and all have advanced technology, a modern and spacious bathroom. The buffet breakfast was varied and the spa was okay with a heated pool and a massage area. The hotel is in a tranquil area of Porto (Boavista) but a little far from the center of the city. If you can, choose a room in the last floor for the views. When I was there, in mid-August 2007, staying there were all the musical groups of the festiva of Paredes de Coura. It was interesting to see the favorite groups of music doing their thing, above all the English ones.

It was great having chosen this hostal for our stay in Porto, the best part, aside from the price, was the friendliness of the couple who owns this hostal. The woman became our grandmother essentially, asking us how we were, worrying about everything that we did, etc. The couple accompanied us to various places so we could eat like kings for a small price. A luxury.

pestana palácio do freixo - pousada & national monument hotel
    Hotels in
    Porto
Of all the buildings in the city of Porto, this is one of the most beautiful and least known. Located in the suburbs, it is a bit away from the tourist track, and is part of a hotel group Pousadas de Portugal. It was built in the mid-eighteenth century, commissioned by a knight of the Order of Malta, and designed by Italian architect Nasoni Nicols, who spent much of his career in this Portuguese city. Located on the banks of the Duero, the palace has some magnificent views from the top. It is a rectangular building with four towers (one per corner) and contrasted tones in white plaster and grey stone. Each of the facades is different, many with decorative motifs inspired by the sea and its inhabitants. The interior doesn't disappoint, with beautiful frescoes, stucco, and mirrors. The ceilings are magnificent. For its beauty, and great location on the Duero, it's definitely worth visiting.

    guest house douro
    Hotels in
    Porto
If you want to stay in the heart of Old Town and enjoy a magnificent view over the Douro peacefully while enjoying the taste and aroma of a delicious port wine, do not hesitate, the Guest House Douro is the ideal place to stay. The rooms bordering the Ribeira, from whose windows you can see many things including the Villa-de-Gaia, are the perfect place to enjoy a well deserved rest. The owners, Carmen and Joao, will do everything possible to make your stay "at home" and as pleasant as possible. We were given a glass of wine each time we retired to rest, we were provided with detailed information about places to visit outside the typical tourist places and we were advised about the best restaurants in town (according to your food preferences and purchasing power). A luxury. The Guest House has been renovated and decorated with care and took care of the details, they wisely mixed classic and traditional elements of the building with the latest technology - among which is the dim indirect lighting that makes the place elegant and welcoming. Breakfast time is a great time, Joao strives to prepare some decorative dishes with all kinds of fruits accompanied by jams, cheeses, juices and coffee - it is more than adequate to start visiting the city. However, not everything has to be praised, it is fair to note that the rooms with better views, overlooking the Ribeira, are somewhat small, comfortable but small and also the price a little high, maybe this does not line up with the rest of establishments in the city.

I stayed here over New Year's Eve with two friends. It's clean, quiet, and really nice. It has a cinema theme, with each room decorated according to a different movie - The Godfather, Corpse Bride, and so on. It's a fun idea that works really well. The common area is beautiful, and in the mornings you can enjoy a free breakfast. The area is central and easily accessible. Recommended!

    eurostars oporto hotel
    Hotels in
    Porto
The Eurostars Porto is a four-star hotel located near the S Joao Hospital. A yellow line metro stop is just a few metres away, connecting the area directly to the city centre. The hotel has only been open for a few months, so everything is brand new, and the decor and furnishings are very modern. The rooms are spacious, and the mattresses are comfortable. The bathroom is very nice, with a big tub. There's a desk with a power supply, and an LG-brand TV offering some international channels. The rooms have a very modern design, with a transparent glass window between the bedroom and the bathroom, so you can see everything when someone is in the bathroom - only share with a very close friend! The breakfast is excellent, with lots of variety and quality. Homemade cake, pastries, croissants, muffins, donuts and various pastries, among which are the famous Belem cakes (delicious). There is also a wide variety of meats, cereals, jams and other typical things. I gained 2 kilos in the five days I spent in this hotel! In the immediate vicinity, there are numerous cafes and pastry shops. The only negative that I found in the hotel, is that the parking area is guarded by attendants who demand tips.

A hotel with a great atmosphere - very spacious rooms, and a wide variety at the breakfast buffet. The services offered are what you'd expect. It is a little out of the historic centre of the city, but there's a bus stop right at the rear of the hotel (line 502) that takes you there directly. This is a recently built hotel in the financial district of Porto. I left my car for 4 days in front of the hotel and there was no problem.

    istay hotel porto centro
    Hotels in
    Porto
The hotel is pretty close to the Praça da Batalha, ideally located between the upper area of the city and the region of the Ribeira, with numerous cheap shops in the same street, and a 24hour taxi service outside. Porto seems to be a city in decline, and we weren't feeling great when we got here, but it's a quiet, safe area. The room was the largest in which I've stayed in the Easyhotel chain, but the bathroom was tiny! The bed was clean and comfortable, and although the wifi was free, the signal wasn't too strong - but we really couldn't ask for any more for just 20 euros a night. The basement of the hotel has several vending machines and tables, and the wifi works better down there. The staff were really friendly whenever we needed something, for example arranging a taxi to get us to the airport for our 6 am flight, or recommending places to eat.

UNBEATABLE location in the “heart of Porto”, 50mts away from the metro (which has a link to the Airport) and S.Bento train station. Two beautiful buildings classified as “World Heritage” have been recovered and totally refurbished to make the largest hostel in Porto, with breathtaking views. Tattva provides a unique experience in terms of comfort: individual curtains in each bed providing full privacy and en-suite bathrooms, heated rooms and individual fans, free Wifi internet in all the building and elevator. We also have a big outdoor terrace and BBQ area, Laundry service, spacious individual lockers with locks, reading lounge, Bar area, guest kitchen and a restaurant. A nice place to stay in!

    almada guesthouse
    Hostels in
    Porto
This Porto hotel - actually a guesthouse, but in my opinion a 4 * hotel has nothing on this - was a great discovery. It's less than 5 minutes walk from downtown, close to a metro stop, so you don't need transport to visit the central points of interest (Bolhao market, the church and tower, Lello bookshop and Irma, Sao Bento station, Cafe Majestic and even the wineries of Vilanova de Gaia). The hous has eight rooms, all fully renovated, and each room has a unique style. There's a communal kitchen where breakfast is served during the stay, but you can eat or drink anything that is served at breakfast (juice, coffee, tea, fruit, bread and jam) at any time of day, in addition to using the kitchen for whatever you want. The rooms are of a modern minimalist style that combines vintage with modern furniture, besides being comfortable and exceptionally clean. Besides the kitchen, there are other common areas such as a patio, a TV lounge, and a sun terrace, the latter two on the top floor. The hotel itself is outstanding, but the best thing about it is the staff, who offer exquisite service going far beyond the usual. If you don't like hotel staff who take an interest in, and talk to you, I recommend that you look elsewhere. For me, I loved it. Thank you to Raquel, Hugo, Mavi, and Jose for making me feel at home, and making my visit to Porto a unique experience.

vila gale porto - centro hotel
    Hotels in
    Porto
I would say that is one of my favorite hotels in Portugal and that's not even enough, because in Spain there are wonderful places to stay: The stunning pousadas, the splendid hideaways, habitação tourism ... But as far as "hotels" in Porto go, there's no question about it: THE ROAD GALÉ. I discovered it by accident years ago and fell in love. One of my daughters came with us, and all three of us said it would not be the last time we'd visit, and we were sure that if we returned to Porto we would stay there again. Last December my husband and I decided to escape two or three days to our dear Portugal and after getting a cheapie flight, returned to Porto and, of course, this hotel. There are two things that are really important to me: Its magnificent spa on the 17th floor with sweeping views of the city, and its big breakfast with champagne included, what more could you ask for? On top of all that the location is great. It's close to the Praça da República (the center) and the Metro is right at the front door, if you don't feel like walking. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable ... Although this last time it, despite our request for a non-smoking room, it reeked of cigarettes, which was a real shame. The bars and lounges are great but my favorite amenities were still the gym and SPA. For a small fee of a hat rental, you can enjoy a half-size heated pool, a sauna, steam bath, jacuzzi and hammocks to gaze upon the city. If you still feel like you want to do a little exercise in any of the many rooms in the gym, of course with a view to another view of the city. There's nothing better than relaxing after a long day of sightseeing in this wonderful Portuguese city. To regain your strength the next morning, there is nothing better than the breakfast offered at the hotel. If I had to list everything it would take me a long time and I'm sure I'd forget something, but to sum it up, a delicious glass of champagne is the perfect finishing touch. The friendly staff alone makes you want to come back, so I can guarantee you that on your next trip to this wonderful city I know for a fact where I'll be staying. I recommend it.

The location is a real luxury, and so is the building. You are within a block of the Douro, in the Ribeira district. This hotel is labyrinthine, as it has been renovated several times. It now has 90 rooms, with old stone design elements mixed with cutting edge solutions, like the glass elevator nestled among the old stone architecture. The reception staff are young and friendly, the decor is modern, the prices are affordable ... what more could you want? The rooms can be a bit small, and you can request one overlooking the river for a small fee. Good breakfast, with delicious cream cakes.

A typical AC hotel - modern but impersonal. I don't understand how, in this day and age, the AC doesn't offer free wifi in the rooms. It's just available in a special area on the first floor, and it's really terribly annoying to have to go down there every time I need to use the internet. The hotel is quite far out, and taking the subway by night is awkward.
