Karlos Arguiñano Restaurant
Yes, hospitality is the word that best describes this restaurant. We booked a month in advance to avoid surprises (it is fully booked in August). We arrived on time and they gave us our table right away. We are a couple, so we ordered two entrees, fish, meat, an assortment of desserts, two cokes, a coffee and tea. They gave us an aperitif when we sat down (gazpacho and chistorra). Everything was very good and served with a lot of quality. They didn’t have any of the ridicule “signature cooking” or the nonsense of other grills of the area. We paid 80 € and left very satisfied. Very nice dinner, good company, what else can you ask for?

Bar Zeruko
The Zeruko is an obliged visit to all of those who wish to have a sublime experience. Each pintxo is an authentic work of art and engineering. Marili makes sure that everyone is happy. I don’t recommend any specific pintxo because I wouldn’t be able to choose; you will see what I’m talking about with the pictures. You’ll let me know.

Restaurante Gran Sol
This summer I was in Hondarribia, a beautiful town with a great gastronomic culture, where they really take care of the quality, presentation and making of the pintxos. The Gran Sol is a tapas and pintxos bar with several awards (among them the Silver Dish in the 8th Pintxo Championship of Guipúzcoa 2006), and one of the most frequented places by locals. It is amazing and I’m wishing to go back to drink a glass of wine accompanied by one of its best pintxos: foie, goat cheese with anchovies, vol-au-vent with cheese. I recommend it 100 %!

La Cuchara de San Telmo
The pintxos from Donosti are famous for being exquisite and this is not to be questioned. Nevertheless, a few years ago a new concept has arisen, La Cuchara de San Telmo, which elevates everything that has been previously said about the Donosti cuisine. The restaurant doesn’t offer the typical bar full of pintxos or canapés. The bar is empty and the client must order from the menu, which is found on the wall. They serve small dishes of the most exquisite food: pig trotter with vinaigrette, beef cheeks in white wine, codfish tempura with beer… Each bite is a unique experience and, even though the prices are high and the place is usually full, believe me, it’s worth it.

Bar Aralar
You can’t come to San Sebastian and not spend some time strolling through the old part of town going from bar to bar eating pintxos! Our route was quick, we only had one hour and a half before we had to go back to class, but it was intense. First we visited Goiz-Argi, and then we discovered this place, where the quantity of pintxos in the bar is impressive. What can I say, when you get to a place like this the best thing you can do is grab a plate, fill it with curious and delicious pintxos and wash it down with a good txcacoli (white wine). Enjoy!

Juantxo Taberna
You won’t find in the whole planet Spanish omelets (tortilla de patata) like the ones in Juantxo. The best in the world! This tavern is found in the old part of town, surrounded by guesthouses, bars, restaurants and shops.

La Mejillonera
La Mejillonera, or "La Meji" as it's known locally, is a restaurant in the port of San Sebastian that seems frozen in time. For example, the waiters shout out all the orders (usually mussels, squid and patatas bravas). The sauces are spectacular, which is really the reason to come here. Upon entering, you might be put off by the crowds, but once you try the food you're sure to come back.

Dolores, Nekane and Bittor own this familiar restaurant located in the square of Igeldo. Apart from being a good and beautiful place to eat, the quality price ratio is amazing. My friend says that "everything tastes good here". You can choose between menu or combo plates. I assure that the steak with fries is the best I have ever tasted. Fries are homemade, delicious! and croquettes are unbeatable. They have seasonal products, I personally recommend Igeldo's tomatos. It has two dining rooms and some tables on the bar. In summer, they usually display more tables in the terrace. It's really nice when the weather is good, and also during the night. Take bus nº 16, every 30 minutes. There's parking space for cars. Closed on Wednesday's afternoons, Thursday and during October.

Akelarre is an obliged visit for all the lovers of good food who are in San Sebastian and want to follow the restaurant route with Michelin stars. You can enjoy this restaurant by day (it is located in the Igeldo and has broad windows that allows you to see the side of the mountain and the sea) and night (it has a nice decoration and lighting that makes it very cozy). The dishes take you to another world: the diverse raw materials, the careful elaboration and the distinguished presentation make the experience and authentic pleasure. Take a look at the pictures, no comments necessary. The restaurant has its own parking.

La Hermandad de Pescadores Restaurant
A very simple place but with great fish. It is impossible to walk away with a bad impression. It is located in the heart Hondarribia, within a short walk from the old town, the marina, and the promenade of Butron. It is also close to the boat that takes you to Hendaye. It is recommended to stroll along the marina. Its a very charming place.

La Cepa
When you visit San Sebastian you must go to the 31 de Agosto Street, the nerve center of the old downtown, where you will find the biggest concentration of pinchos bars per square meter. La Cepa Bar distinguishes itself for its excellent Iberian ham. We’ve only had the opportunity to taste the pinchos, since it’s always super full. The decoration is eye-catching, a mix of kitsch styles. There is the Spanish style with the hams hanging from the walls, in the roof there is a crystal chandelier, iron lamps and lanterns, wall clocks from different time periods, as well as different antiquities such as ancient phones, gramophones, iron to brand cows and an exhibit of candy: gummies, berries, chocolates, all protected by crystal table.

La Perla Restaurant
La Perla is in the neighborhood surrounding Playa de la Concha. For the location, the prices are good (a la carte around 35 €, including shared starters). You should book in advance and be sure to mention if you want an outdoor table on the beachfront. Don't go too late, as service tends to bee a bit sluggish when the restaurant is full.

Restaurante Gandarias
My partner and I thought this restaurant was the best thing about San Sebastian. The cold pinchos are the best but the hot pinchos, are spectacular. Gourmet skewers: it is making me salivate to remember. Order: sirloin skewer, duo, croquettes (better than my mum's. Sorry Mum!) Nice waiters and have to go!

The restaurant Arzak serves signature cuisine worthy of tasting. The chef, Juan Mari, is the master of masters. He can easily transport you to a world of gustatory senses unknown to most mortals. I think a person ve likes these kinds of sensations has to visit. It's simply orgasmic.

Restaurante Tenis Ondarreta
The Royal Tennis Club Restaurant is between Ondarreta beach and El Peine de los Vientos. The daily menu is around 15€. It has a roof top with enviable views of Santa Clara island, Ondarreta and La Concha beaches, and the cathedral. I recommend going to El Peine de los Vientos, Palacio Miramar, the small shrine of Lourdes Txiki, and the Funicular Igeldo amusement park. From the top, the views are beautiful. It's a shabby park, but much loved by all.

Bar Sport
Want to eat snacks at a reasonable price? Try this bar in the old town of San Sebastian. Not only are there "typical" skewers, there are some that are not so traditional (as I ate yesterday) a montadito surrounded three large mushrooms and ham .... excellent! Iberico ham with green pepper and anchovies .... spectacular! and at a reasonable price. The best bar I've ever visited by far.

Goiz Argi
This premises is known for its Shrimp Brochette and also its hot pintxos from croquettes to peppers with meat balls. I must praise the 'mini-bar' in Almeria which was simple and tasty.
